    Abstract

  • This paper explores the impacts of Forest Rights Act 2006 (FRA) on the forest dwellers and tribal communities. Under this act, the provision is made to distribute land to the landless and land cultivating forest dwellers and tribal communities. The present study is an attempt to point out the ground realities of the five tribal villages of scheduled tribe areas of the Nanded district of Marathwada region of the Maharashtra. The findings of this study are based on the empirical understanding of the impacts of FRA on the local tribal communities, such as, Bhil, Kolam, Andh, Pardhan and Gond and their struggles to access the land and forest resources for their survival and livelihood support system.
